A haven for President Truman starting in 1946, the Truman Little White House was erected in 1890 as the naval station’s command headquarters. Truman visited the house 11 times throughout the 1940s and ’50s, and other US presidents, including John F. Kennedy stayed at the house. This history is infused into the setting, offering an extra layer of intrigue to the wedding venue.

Located in residential Truman Annex just two short blocks to Duval Street, the home’s garden setting is removed from Key West’s hustle and bustle, yet within walking distance. Whether it’s at an evening wedding under the stars or a daytime party shaded by tall palm trees, the gardens at the Truman Little White House make for a sophisticated and tropical Key West wedding.

The three lawns surrounding President Harry S. Truman’s winter retreat can be used together or individually. The North lawn, with tall palms and enormous Gumbo Limbo and Mahogany trees, forms a garden cathedral and is a favorite location for Key West wedding ceremonies. The East lawn, shaded by a variety of tropical shade trees, lends itself to receptions and dinners. It’s just right for a smaller party. The lush green West lawn is open and spacious. You can choose to setup your dance floor underneath the stars or create a covered area with a large tent.

Invite the wedding party to take a tour of the Little White House. The house is filled with original furnishings that were used by President Truman and reflect the decor of the 1940s and early 1950s. The presidential dining room table can be used for an intimate wedding rehearsal dinner.
